Welcome to Glasnevin Cemetery Museum

Glasnevin Cemetery Museum are running an O'Connell Tower related compettion on Facebook.  We are doing this to conincide with his commemoration and also to highlight the fact that O'Connell Tower itself has been open to visitiors for a year.  Please see below for all details pertaining to the competition.

End Date: Friday, May 17th

Winners Announced: Monday, May 20th

Prize: Family combi-ticket or 4 X Adult combi-tickets. (A combi ticket gets the holder onto a tour and a climb up the tower).  The winner will also receive a bespoke Glasnevin Poster of their choice.

Mar 2019 O'Connell Tower Green

Task:  Entrants must compose a haiku and post it on our Facebook page before midnight on Friday, May 17th, 2019.  The haiku must reference Daniel O'Connell or the O'Connell Tower in some way and must have the #OConnellHaiku on the post.

OK great, what is a haiku when it's at home? A haiku is a form of verse (originating in Japan), written in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables.

Entrants must be aged 16 or over.

Entrants must post their entries to the Glasnevin Cemetery Museum page before midnight on Friday, May 17th.

Under no circumstances must any offensive material be posted, any individuals who do so will be blocked from the page.

The use of pictures and or videos to accompany the haikus are allowed as long as there is a relevant link.

The winner will be announced on the Glasnevin Cemetery Museum Page on Monday, May 20th.

Entrants must read the terms and conditions associated with the Tower Climb before entering, there are age restrictions and health and safety rules in place which must be abided by in relation to climbing the tower.
