We are pleased to announce the publication of the first formal Consolidated Annual Report of Glasnevin Trust. Previously annual audited financial statements had been prepared for the organisation. The full report has been produced in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for Charities. We have also published a summary report.
Glasnevin Trust is a registered charity and as such the organisation is on a journey towards the full compliance that this status requires. This report documents the positive progress that we made on this journey in 2017.
Some points of note from the report are as follows:
- An estimated 600,000 people visited Glasnevin Trust owned and operated cemeteries to attend a burial or cremation, take part in a tour, visit a grave or simply to walk around the grounds
- 4,103 burials and cremations were carried out in 2017
2018 brings with it the agreement of the next phase of the Strategic Plan 2019 - 2023 which will look at funding for the maintenance and development of the 5 sites (Dardistown, Glasnevin, Goldenbridge, Palmerstown and Newlands Cross) which come under the Glasnevin Trust umbrella.
The organisation will also be planning for shifting trends of people opting for cremation over burial within this strategy.
Naturally, the Trust will also be striving to ensure that the legacy of Glasnevin - Ireland's National Cemetery continues to be maintained and preserved to the highest standard.
