Welcome to the website of Glasnevin Cemetery Museum

Bloomsday 2013

It is not unusual to see dedicated Joyceans make the annual trip to Glasnevin Cemetery in hired horse-drawn carriages; some even rent a hearse for full authenticity. Amongst the countless Joycean characters buried in Glasnevin is the writer's father John Stanislaus. This year to celebrate this historic date Glasnevin Cemetery Museum will run a series of events Including a Joycean themed breakfast & lunch in the Tower Café, a reading of Chapter Six Hades by the Dublin Shakespeare Society, and a Joycean tour of the cemetery with Shane MacThomáis.

10.00am - 3.00pm: Special Joycean Breakfast and Lunch in Glasnevin Museum's Tower Café.

11.30am: Dublin Shakespeare Society presents a Rehearsed Reading from the 'Hades' Chapter, Ulysses, by James Joyce. Featuring Ian Blackmore, Shane Egan, Val O'Donnell (director), Paddy O'Dwyer, Jim O'Keeffe, and Blaise Reid. Duration: Approx 30 minutes (Free)

12.30pm: Joycean Tour of Glasnevin Cemetery with Resident Author and Historian Shane MacThomais. Tour with museum entry, 10% off in our Tower Café and €10 Genealogy credit voucher is €12 per person or €8 concession. Booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
