General History Tour

To celebrate Engineers’ Week (February 29th - March 6th), Glasnevin Cemetery Museum will pay tribute to iconic engineering figures who played important roles in developing the Ireland that we live in today.  We will focus on these figures on our classic General History tours taking place at 11:30am and 2:30pm on February 29th and March 1st.  Some of the engineers that will feature are:

  • William Dargan
  • Sir. John Gray
  • Rory O’Connor
  • Seán MacEntee

Our original tour takes in the graves of those who shaped the course of Irish History. Your tour includes:

  • Entry into O’Connell Crypt • Most Visited Graves such as the burial place of Michael Collins
  • Burial space of Dublin’s 19th Century poor
  • The Republican Plot
  • James Larkin, Maud Gonne, Grace Gifford and many more famous figures
  • A re-enactment of a famous speech that Pádraig Pearse made in 1915 at the graveside of Jeremiah O'Donovan-Rossa takes place in that same spot every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday at 2:30 pm

We advise that you arrive at the museum reception at least 15 minutes before the start of your Tour. Please note, tour duration is approximately 90 minutes.
