Robbery On The Road

An Post’s Reward Notice Collection available to view at Glasnevin Museum Friday 29th April – July 31st 2010

‘Robbery on the Road’ is the title of an exhibition of a small collection of reward notices drawn from An Post’s archive collection.

These notices offer an insight not only into the functioning of the nineteenth century Irish Post Office but also into aspects of local history throughout the country.

The collection is a rare survivor of the pre-1916 General Post Office. Set aside for many years they came to light again a few years ago and although creased and dirty, their importance as an original historical source was appreciated.

This exhibition is on loan with kind permission from An Post (Museum & Archives).

A range of An Post publications will be available to purchase from the Glasnevin Museum Shop.

To celebrate the launch of this exhibition and the Bank Holiday Weekend, Glasnevin Museum is offering additional Cemetery Tours at 3.30pm on Sunday 2nd and Monday 03rd .

Family Ticket for both Museum & Cemetery Tours costs €25.00 (2 x Adult & 2 x Children)
