Winter at Glasnevin

November 30th, New Contemporary Irish Craft Exhibition: Entropy, Prospect Gallery, Glasnevin Museum until March 5th 2012

‘Entropy’, showcases the work of leading craft makers working at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.  The exhibition focuses on the creative use of ceramics, glass and metal.  Internationally recognized craft makers such as Angela O’Kelly, Dr. Caroline Madden, Derek McGarry and Henry Pim have created new pieces to be included in this eclectic exhibition.

The exhibition includes one of a kind, as well as limited edition, contemporary jewellery made in a wide variety of colourful materials.  Sculptural ceramics and glass illustrate an eclectic mix of visual interests and practice.

All works are available for purchase and make very unique gifts for the season.

 

December 11th, Angels Tree Lighting Ceremony, Glasnevin Cemetery

Glasnevin Trust in association with A Little Lifetime Foundation  (Formerly ISANDS) will hold a Blessing of Remembrance & Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Glasnevin Cemetery at the New Angles Graves only on 11th December 2011 at 4pm.
This ceremony is open to all, and you are welcome to join in this very special way of remembering all the children buried at Glasnevin.

December 21st, Winter Solstice Supper, Glasnevin Museum

To celebrate the Winter Solstice Glasnevin Museum is hosting a very special evening of Shopping, Supper, Christmas Stories and Music.

From 7pm enjoy an exclusive Christmas Shopping event, with mulled wine reception, followed by supper in the Tower Cafe with readings from classic Christmas tales. The evening will finish with some festive music to send you home in the spirit of the season.

Tickets are €45 per person, including a €10 Museum Shop voucher to get you in the gift shopping mood.

December 28th & 29th, Little Elves Workshop, Glasnevin Museum

With Christmas out of the way, Santa’s helpers have found themselves at a loose end and have asked they can help entertain little ones before returning to the North Pole to ring in the New Year.

This interactive workshop is suitable for children aged 6-11 years old and lasts 90 minutes. Tickets €10 per child, activities include storytelling, face painting, activity sheets and thank you letters to Santa.
