Glasnevin Museum ready to celebrate 1st birthday

Friday April 8th will see the 1st Birthday of the award winning Glasnevin Museum at Glasnevin Cemetery, Irelands Necropolis. In 2010 Glasnevin Museum & Cemetery Tours won the following awards;

Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement, from the Themed Entertainment Association, Burbank California

Digital Media Awards, Best Digital Design and Overall Grand Prix Winners

Institute of Designers in Ireland, Highly Commended, Best Exhibition Design

OPUS Design Award, Highly Commended, Architectural Design

Public Sector Journal, Best Historical and Educational Attraction

On April 8th, to celebrate the first birthday of Glasnevin Museum, admission is free 10am until 2pm, including Historical Walking Tours of Glasnevin Cemetery at 11.30am & 12.30pm. This is an excellent opportunity to visit City of the Dead, Milestone Timeline and Daniel O’Connell, The Man Who Discovered Ireland exhibitions, as well as a chance to visit the O’Connell crypt while taking the cemetery walking tour.

Visitors on April 8th will also get an opportunity to enjoy a preview of Census 1911, a new exhibition in the Museums Prospect Gallery which will be officially launched to invited guests later that day.
